Our Story
Jacanna Designs isn’t your average custom design house. We have our roots deep in retail, which means we understand your needs better than anyone else. We have been in your team’s shoes behind the counter and we know what it takes to make your customers happy. In fact, our process and team were first developed to support a single store. When Shaun Goodyear had the vision of Jacanna Designs it began in his retail store. When he searched for a custom design solution, he found vendors that could supply quick CAD, quick casting, and quick finishing but not at the level of quality he expected. There were other vendors that could offer higher quality but not in a reasonable amount of time. To further frustration, to do one custom piece of jewelry properly, he had to use several different vendors, and this was a time-consuming task.
Our main goal is to make you and your team’s lives easier. We handle all of the aspects of the custom process, which frees up your team to make more sales and work with more clients. As a bonus, there are no CAD design fees, so you can feel confident working with a client knowing you won’t be on the hook for fees if the sale doesn’t go through. We also brand each item with your logo. This allows you to sell your brand, not ours.
Shaun developed our process, which takes your sketches, pictures from the Internet, and notes from your client appointments and simplifies the steps to keep it simple and easy for your team. We turn those details into a photorealistic CAD rendering with a quote in all metal types so you have all of the tools you need to get the sale. Once confirmed, simply send over an approval and we take care of all the details making custom design easier than ever for your team.
We do things differently, and you are going to love it! We exclusively use ideal cut Belgian melee, the difference is noticeable in the finished piece. We also use a standard F/G color VS2 clarity diamond, but are happy to substitute that for a lower and higher grade when necessary. We are also happy to work with your client’s stones to turn their old jewelry into fantastic new updated designs. You may expect us to write that we have a passion for creating beautiful artisan pieces of jewelry, and we definitely do. This is why each piece we create is finished at the highest level and given just a little extra personal touch.
We don’t just create a design based on the details you give. We take is a step further and consider the way your customers will be wearing it. When we create your design from your sketches and notes, we think about the details. How is this going to sit on the finger? Will it hang the right way on the neck? Will the earrings be too heavy to be comfortable? We make sure that the piece will have the right feel in the client’s hands by not making them too thin, using hand raised beads in pave settings, and hand setting every diamond or gemstone.
You might ask where the name Jacanna comes from. We are a family owned company and our two children Jack and Hannah are the inspiration behind the name.
